Description

Leitz Wetzlar Summilux 1:1.4/50 lens, serial number 1641609. This is an early chrome example of the classic Leica M-mount 50mm f/1.4 Summilux from the first production series, manufactured in 1958. It features a bright maximum aperture, manual focus and aperture control, and the characteristic scalloped focusing ring of the period.

Rare early version 50mm f1.4 Summilux reverse scallop version, very sought after, internal cleaning marks are evident when viewed with a torch and with the naked eye when viewed under critical light condition.

Condition Report

The chrome finish shows light wear, fine scratches and minor marks consistent with age and use. The black front ring and aperture scale have some light scuffs. The glass elements display normal reflections with no heavy fungus or significant haze visible in the images. Focus and aperture rings appear smooth and intact. Overall cosmetic condition is good for a 1950s lens; full optical performance is not verified beyond visual inspection.
