Description
Rare Leica Postkamera (24×36 mm format), serial number 1141908, from the official 1966 factory batch of only 72 units (1141897–1141968). These specialised cameras were built by Ernst Leitz Wetzlar for the German Postal and Telecommunications service (Deutsche Bundespost) for photographing telephone meters and registers. Based on a simplified MD-type body without rangefinder or conventional viewfinder, it is fitted with a Leitz Wetzlar Summaron 1:2.8/35 lens, serial 2311491. The diamond “PT” marking on the top plate is consistent with Post-service instruments of the period.

The chrome top plate and base show typical wear, light scratches and some oxidation consistent with service use. The black vulcanite covering has moderate wear and minor marks. The Summaron lens displays light cosmetic wear on the finish. Glass elements show normal reflections. The “PT” sticker remains on the top plate. As a specialised Post camera, full modern photographic functionality is not expected; condition is consistent with a well-used institutional instrument of this type.
